Juvena Therapeutics, Inc. is a regenerative medicine biotech startup inviting applications for research associates who are excited to work as a core member of a team focused on the discovery and validation of novel biologics that promote tissue regeneration using high throughput in vitro screening assays and in vivo mice studies. The position is full-time starting as early as possible. This is the perfect opportunity for someone interested in the exciting and fast-paced environment of a startup company.
Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the US. Preference will be given to candidates within a 45-minute commute. We welcome pre-med or pre-PhD applicants looking for a minimum 2-year commitment to R&D prior to graduate or medical school. Preference will be given to candidates searching for a long-term career on a growth trajectory.
A bachelor's degree in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field is required with at least 2 years of research experience with mice handling, with a preference for industry or startup R&D experience. Masters degree is a plus. A background in in vivo experimentation in mice and mammalian stem cell biology is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include therapeutic screening of drug candidates in mouse physiology studies, mouse handling, mouse injections, and post-mortem mammalian tissue histology, immunostaining and imaging analysis. Expertise in muscle biology a major plus.
This position is a great fit if you are capable of and ready to do the following:
In vivo research: mouse handling, mouse orders and inventory upkeep, SubQ and i.p. injections and physiology measurements
Work hands-on to develop, optimize, and scale-up mouse assays and tools for measuring improvements of muscle function and healthspan
Execute experiments following appropriate laboratory SOPs and produce competent and reproducible results to a high technical standard
Assist in animal perfusions and tissue dissections
Perform tissue Cryosectioning and histology
Perform immunofluorescence staining on tissue section slides
Acquire quality images on a microscope
Maintain electronic notebooks and SOPs
Image process, Upload images to our Cloud storage system
Appropriately analyze data, interpret results, and maintain accurate records with minimum supervision
Ordering, inventory upkeep, restocking and autoclaving
