Juvena Therapeutics, Inc. is a regenerative medicine biotech startup inviting applications for Computational Biologist/Biostatistician who are excited to work as a core member of a team focused on the discovery and validation of novel candidate biologics for tissue regeneration and increased stem cell activity using computational analysis, high throughput in vitro screening assays and in vivo healthspan assays.
Latest approaches in biostatistics, bioinformatics and machine learning will be applied to optimize high-throughput screening assays and analysis of healthspan assays. Predictive modeling will be applied to enhance the efficiency of lead therapeutic drug screening.

The computational biologist/biostatistician will be responsible for extracting meaningful biological insights from various large, complex omics datasets and integrating the results into Juvena Therapeutics’ growing in house database. He or she will possess expert knowledge of statistics and statistical modeling, as well as adroitly representing complex data relationships in visual form. He or she will develop and apply statistical modeling to enhance the efficiency of candidate biologics screening for increased stem cell activity from prototype to scale deployment.
The computational biologist/statistician will manage Google Cloud and AWS resources connected to relevant projects. He or she will interact cross-functionally, making strategy recommendations with effective presentations of highly polished project results for both savvy and novice audiences, and improve automation of data analysis and reporting.
M.S./PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science combined with Biological research, or other related disciplines involving both biology and computation, with 1-4 years of post-graduate experience
Ideally, the candidate will have a proven track record with publications, co-inventorships or other impressive achievements demonstrating mastery of both biology and computational analysis
Strong foundational knowledge and experience in Biology, particularly the methods for generating large scale data sets in epigenomics, genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics
Published expertise in computational omics analysis, including but not limited to data mining of large omics datasets, ideally on multiple data types simultaneously and integratively
Expertise in statistics and modeling, including but not limited to Bayesian statistics, linear and non-linear modeling, multivariate analysis, network analysis, machine learning, and algorithm development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated expertise in a scripting language (Perl or Python).
Demonstrated expertise in statistical computing language - R is preferred
Familiarity with bootstrap and python web frameworks like Django/Web2py is a plus.
Self-Starter – Can work independently and able to collaborate with scientists to make appropriate and timely decisions to meet deadlines on experiments and projects
Industry or startup R&D experience
